Jackie Delgado
Kennel Manager
Hi, my name is Jackie Delgado, and I am the Kennel Manager at Angleton Veterinary Clinic. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping the animals in our care feel comfortable and confident during their stay.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy video gaming with a love for immersive, story-driven worlds, traveling with my husband and exploring new places together, and spending time with my two dogs. I also enjoy getting lost in a good book, hunting for unique finds while thrift shopping, and I'm always on the lookout for my next great sushi spot. I like staying active with hiking, and in my downtime I enjoy musical theatre as well as live symphony and opera performances. My two dogs are Howler, a very large Lab/Great Pyrenees mutt who stands 26 inches at the shoulder and weighs 80 pounds but thinks he's small enough to fit in your lap, and Snoopy, a blue heeler mix who is small enough to fit in your lap but would rather you didn't — he wants pets on his terms, is a no-nonsense kind of pup, and has one striking blue eye and a gorgeous amber one.
Favorite Part of My Job
One of my favorite things about kennel care is being directly involved in an animal's comfort and well-being during what can often be a stressful time for them. I enjoy making sure they are clean, comfortable, and receiving the attention they need while they're away from home or recovering from treatment. Most of all, I love building trust with the animals — seeing a nervous pet become comfortable, excited to see me, or relaxed in my care is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
Why I Chose This Profession
I chose to become a kennel manager because I've always had a passion for animals and wanted to build a career where I could help care for them. In fact, I have a photo from kindergarten career day where I was dressed in a white coat, holding a puppy, with a sign that said "Veterinarian." While I didn't end up following that path to become the next Dr. Dolittle, that picture reflects something that has stayed true throughout my life — a genuine love for animals and a desire to be part of the team that helps them. As a kennel manager, I get to combine that passion with my organizational and leadership skills, ensuring animals are safe, healthy, and comfortable, supporting our staff, and helping create a positive experience for both pets and their owners.
Education
I earned my Associate of Science in Business Administration from Alvin Community College, where I studied from 2013 to 2015.
Work History
I worked in a boarding facility during high school and then began my career in retail in 2013. After climbing the career ladder in retail over five years, I realized I wanted to work in more of an office setting, so I moved into banking for four years. When I relocated to Angleton, it was time to find something closer to home, and I joined Angleton Veterinary Clinic as Kennel Manager in June 2024. In this role, I oversee the daily care and well-being of the animals in the kennel, supervise staff and coordinate schedules, maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility, and monitor animal health while communicating any concerns to the veterinary team.
